12" tall plush revisiting Akerbeltz from ancient Basque Mythology. Worship your very own Lord of Witchcraft. He's cute as Hell!

Each plush measures 30,5cm tall and 19,5cm wide. They are made of minky plush fabric with embroidered eyes, nose and mouth and printed lines on the horns.

ABOUT "GRADE A" AND "GRADE B" PLUSHES

GRADE A plushes are regular plushes that don't have factory flaws, even if they may vary a bit from ones to others.

GRADE B plushes have minor factory flaws in their embroidery, but they are not too visible, which makes these plushes a great option to get them at a reduced price!

NOTE: plushes are soft and can be slightly deformed during shipping, but don’t worry! Just squish it gently until it gets back to its shape. Long trips can be strenuous and he just needs to recover from it!

Also, note that plushies are handcrafted by multiple individuals during the production process and that each plush may have its own unique shape.

ABOUT AKERBELTZ IN MYTHOLOGY

The pre-Roman agrarian deity knowN as Aherbelste could have been the origin of the Basque Akerbeltz, literally ‘black billy goat’. Once a deification of wilderness, it became a protector of cattle and later in time, perhaps because of its link with other horned deities like Pan, it became a suitable image of the ‘Master of Witchcraft’.

Akerbeltz (Basque Aker- meaning ‘male goat’ and -beltz meaning ‘black’) would be demonized in Pyrenean regions and transformed into a folk representation of the Devil, which had its parallels in Catalan witch trials with the Boc of Biterna, in Aragón with the Boch/Buch and in France with the Bouc. Still, its connection with fertility and apotropaic virtues is retained in Pyrenean folklore.
