ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Poseable gamusino artdoll based on a Kodama Nezumi from Japanese folklore..

Each doll stands 10cm (3,9 inches) aprox. tall. Their head, hands and feet are 3D printed in resin and attatched to an inner articulated plastic armature that allows poseability. Body is hand sewn using synthetic fur fabric (vegan friendly) and it's weighted on the bottom for balancing.

The shimenawa rope around its body is handmade with esparto grass and the and the shide (zig-zag shaped paper streamers) are made of paper. Both the shimenawa and shime can be taken off of the creature.

Please, note that esparto grass can have a strong smell at first that some people might find disgusting (it smells kind of farm-ish). I usually put them in a cage with japanese incense for a few days to cover a bit the esparto smell. However, both esparto and incense smells should progressively vanish over time.

Head, hands and feet are handpainted with acrylic paints. Please, notice this is a handmade piece of art and it's delicate. Paintjob can be scratched and resin pieces have very thin areas thay may break if not handled with care. This is not a toy and it's not suitable for children.

ABOUT KODAMA NEZUMI:

Kodama nezumi are messengers of the gods of the mountain in the Tōhoku region in Japan. When the gods of the mountains feel angry with the Matagi hunters because they are hunting too much, they send the Kodama nezumi, round shaped rodents. And the way of these cute Yokai to deliver their messages is to inflate their small bodies like a balloon until they explode, making a sound similar to a gunshot and splattering everything (and the hunters) with flesh, blood and innards. That way, the hunters know they have to stop hunting for a while.
